Brooklyn, Brooklyn Take Me In*

1 Jun

Today is the day I share a little secret with anyone willing to read it.

Earlier in the week, I expressed an expedition that my fellow and I took this past weekend.

After receiving news that my boyfriend was admitted into graduate school with full funding, an exploration was decided post-haste.

What was the exploration, you ask?

Finding our new home.

That right friends, the man and I will soon be packing up and shipping out to a very different city…

Philadelphia.

Our families and closest circle of friends were the first to know. Days have passed since we received that impressive news. In that time I have been more than excited, wanting nothing more than to share the news with all of you. After all, you have been my support since the beginning of this blog.

But, I waited until I absolutely knew for sure.

While I could remain in Brooklyn, I decided (after only brief contemplation) that I would satiate the ants in my pants and accompany that charming man of mine–leaving New York City behind.

Of course, the home we have made here will still remain a memory unfaded–a vision held in the rearview mirror of the car even in the miles ahead.

I only hope that Brooklyn does not forget us, as I have a feeling we will be back again. When that day comes, Brooklyn, Brooklyn take us in.

This is for you, my most critical editor and best friend. [Insert barf sound here]

Congratulations to your fellow! I’m sure you will love your new city! (Though don’t even think about becoming a Flyers fan! I hear they box with the blind…)

Thank you, lady. Oh, I could never be a Philly fan of any sport — it’s not in my blood. I will forever be a New Jersey Devils fan. I love Parise.

The first place prize is a day in Brooklyn; the second place prize is a year or more in Philly. Hope the new digs doesn’t change your attitude.

Ha! Yes, but I have a feeling we will be back. I still love Philadelphia and we found a lovely area to live. I’m just super excited for the new chapter in my life, one that will include a dog. :)
